A groundbreaking ceremony for the new UA Tech Park at The Bridges, which is a 65-acre community of innovation within a larger 350-acre master-planned, mixed-use development project just north of Interstate-10, bordered by Kino Parkway to the east, 36th Street to the north and the Union Pacific Railroad line to the west.

The Boyer Company has been selected as the development partner to design, develop and finance the first building at the UA Tech Park at The Bridges. This building is part of the long-term plans for the technology zone within the UA Tech Park at The Bridges, plans that include four to five office and lab buildings for public, private and academic users. The technology zone encompasses 20 acres of land within the Tech Park and is one of four different zones (technology, corporate, university, and business) in this new community of innovation.

The first new building will be named “Refinery” because of its proximity to the talent and bright minds that can be mined from the University of Arizona. This building will provide 120,000 square feet of office space, ideal for small-to-mid-sized tech-focused businesses and organizations. The University of Arizona is planning on utilizing 50% of the space for commercialization and innovation activities providing one central hub for innovation commercialization activities stemming from the University.

  • Robert C. Robbins, MD, President, University of Arizona
  • Elizabeth Cantwell, Ph.D., Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation, University of Arizona
