E.ON is the developer of two projects at the Solar Zone. E.ON built its first solar project at the Tech Park (e.g. Tech Park Solar) as a 5 MW solar installation that uses multi-crystalline silicon modules and single-axis trackers. The second project is the Iron Horse project, a combined energy storage (10MW / 2.5 MWh) and solar (2.4 MW) project that provides grid reliability services to Tucson Electric Power. Graytec USA's internationally patent-pending, circular, closed-loop system collects greywater from showers, bathtubs, and bathroom sinks, and then purifies that water to potable quality (on-site) before recirculating the water into those same showers, bathtubs and bathroom sinks for direct reuse. This system saves up to 60% of the water (and 80% of the energy to heat that water) within the structure that it serves.
