A sampling of companies that have set up shop in the region over the last year.

Reginald Bennett International

The FAA-certified manufacturer of retro-reflective runway, taxiway and heliport lighting relocated its operations from Ontario, Canada.

Universal Bio Mining

The company is applying synthetic biology to the mining industry. It relocated its operations from California and is partnering with the Arizona Center for Innovation at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. The company planned to hire 40 employees with a capital investment of $500,000.

Sorenson Communications

The Salt Lake City-based company, a manufacturer and provider of videophones customized for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, opened a new technical support center that will employ 270 people at a 24,000-square-foot facility near Williams Center.

Infinity Insurance

The national provider of personal automobile insurance opened a Tucson facility that will house 300 employees in 25,000 square feet of space near East Valencia Road.

Quik Tek Assembly

A provider of contract manufacturing services expanded operations to the Tucson region. It has leased an 8,000-square-foot building and plans a $700,000 capital investment.

Duralar Technologies

A global nanotechnology company and developer of ultrahard coatings established its U.S. headquarters in the region. The company has leased a 5,000-square-foot building in Marana and plans a $6 million capital investment.
