25 Years of Success With a Focus on the Future

Twenty-five years ago, the University of Arizona took the bold step of acquiring an industrial park in southeastern Pima County and transforming it into a university research park.
At its inception, the UA Tech Park housed two companies with slightly more than 800 employees. Today, it is home to more than 40 high tech companies and business organizations with 6,000 knowledge workers and was voted best workplace both for innovation and culture through the Arizona Daily Star Reader’s Choice Awards in 2018.
For twenty-five years, the Tech Park has contributed to regional economic development by advancing the University of Arizona’s research mission and technology development. Annually, the UA Tech Park and its tenants contribute nearly $2 billion to the local economy and is one of the region’s largest employment centers.
This year, we celebrate 25 years of success at the UA Tech Park. The celebration not only commemorates the past success, but especially focuses on the future. The future is very bright with the following initiatives underway: developing the first building at the UA Tech Park at The Bridges, advancing Tucson’s best workplace by building a health & wellness center at the UA Tech Park, and elevating the business incubator, University of Arizona Center for Innovation, and expanding its programs to outposts across southern Arizona.

If there’s a will, there’s a way — I helped create an inexpensive ultrasound technology that transforms your cell phone or tablet into an ultrasound machine, giving patients and clinicians the answers they need.
