New Mentor in Residence Appointed at the Arizona Center for Innovation

New Mentor in Residence Appointed at the Arizona Center for Innovation

A core service of the Arizona Center for Innovation (AzCI) is providing customized mentorship to technology and science-based startup companies. To enhance this offering, AzCI is pleased to welcome Steven Wood as its new Mentor-in-Residence.

Steven brings a wealth of experience to AzCI.  He co-founded two technology companies with successful exits and has assisted numerous startups. He has also been very active with AzCI over the past several years as a volunteer mentor.

This position brings immense value to AzCI’s Mentored Launch program. As a successful serial entrepreneur, Wood provides AzCI’s client companies with hands-on assistance in developing and executing their business plans, evolving and marketing their products and finding and securing funding. His duties also include coordinating the activities of volunteer mentors and advisors for AzCI client companies.

Steven also serves as a Mentor-in-Residence at Tech Launch Arizona. His ongoing presence at TLA and AzCI – backed with 25 years of industry experience – offer a great opportunity to provide excellent, continuous support to University of Arizona tech transfer startups, from their early beginnings through the licensing process, through launch at AzCI and beyond.

Commenting on his new appointment, Steven said, “I am very pleased to be part of the AzCI team. I look forward to bringing my experiences in technology startups to help guide early stage companies on to becoming sustainable businesses. ”

Arizona Center for Innovation (AzCI) fosters technology- and science-based startups, emerging, and mature companies in the development of their ideas, inventions, and next evolution of the product. AzCI provides a structured business development program called Mentored Launch which includes a program of customized mentoring and coaching, workshops, seminars and networking opportunities; clients also have access to facilities including office, wet and dry lab space as well as a prototyping center with 3D printing capabilities.

AzCI is located at the UA Tech Park and is a component of Tech Parks Arizona. Tech Parks Arizona creates the interactive ground that generates, attracts and retains technology companies and talent in alignment with the research, mission and goals of the University of Arizona (UA). Tech Parks Arizona is part of Tech Launch Arizona (TLA), the office of the University of Arizona that commercializes the inventions stemming from research, which is working to create an ecosystem of invention and commercialization throughout Arizona and beyond.
