Director of Community and Government Relations for Tech Parks Arizona Was Invited to Join the Tucson Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues

Peter Loya Director of Community and Government Relations for Tech Parks Arizona, has been appointed to the City of Tucson’s Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Issues which acts as the official advisory body on GLBT issues.  

Loya will serve on the Commission for an eight-year term limit providing expertise and guidance regarding inclusivity issues. This Commission brings together thirteen volunteer members who are residents of the metropolitan Tucson area.  All members are knowledgeable about issues and concerns of importance to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.  

The commission is the official advisory body to the Mayor and Council on GLBT issues. They respond in a timely manner to GLBT issues that may arise in the City. The Commission also examines local policies and practices in the area of employment, business, education, housing, social services, health and mental health and recreation as they affect or relate to GLBT people in the City and to recommends changes as appropriate. The Commission reviews and make recommendations on proposed local, state and federal legislation affecting GLBT people and promotes educational activities and events related to GLBT issues as well as address the community about GLBT issues and concerns. 

Loya’s has worked 12 years for Tech Parks Arizona, primarily serving as the main contact for over 65+ tenants that call the UA Tech Park at Rita Road home. He engages with approximately 6,000 knowledge workers from every company creating connections and establishing a broader sense of community. Peter Loya has deep knowledge about bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and is very purposeful to develop programs that promote inclusivity and promote diversity on campus through the facilitation of a powerful network of business leaders resulting in increased public awareness and support.  Peter connects executives and employees allowing them to share ideas and discuss challenges for the purpose of advancing technology.  He is a University of Arizona alumna with experience in client relations, international business, workforce training, sales, logistics and community outreach. Peter creates the best workplace environment for employees who work at the Tech Park and brings that same spirit of excellence to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
