Association of University Research Parks Honors Emagine Solutions Technology with Innovation Award
The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) honored Emagine Solutions Technology, a startup company at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation, the business incubator housed at the University of Arizona Tech Park, with the Innovation Award at the AURP 2019 International Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on November 6.
AURP calls for submissions from its members representing 200 research parks (80% US and 20% international). The Innovation Award is presented annually at the International Conference to a business or nonprofit organization located in a research park, science park or innovation district affiliated with institutions of higher education which has brought forward a substantial technology breakthrough and have the potential for a significant positive impact on the economic, health or welfare status of a broad spectrum of humanity.
Emagine Solutions Technology was presented with this award because of its Vistascan software, which transforms a doctor's mobile device into an ultrasound machine. Unlike traditional bulky cart ultrasound machines, VistaScan fits in the palm of a doctor’s hand, is easy to use, makes quick diagnoses and is 10x cheaper than a regular machine. This technology greatly impacts individuals in low-resource communities where access to typical expensive devices and a lack of ultrasound imaging can negatively affect how patients are triaged and treated.
