A Year of Innovation and Growth

As we mark 30 years of fostering innovation, partnerships, and lasting impact, we capped off this milestone year by hosting the After5 Holiday Tech Mixer in collaboration with the Arizona Technology Council. This festive gathering brought together UA Tech Park tenants, the University of Arizona Center for Innovation startups and tech professionals to celebrate a remarkable year and look forward to an exciting future. With engaging conversations and holiday cheer, the mixer was the perfect conclusion to a year filled with achievements and growth.

Highlights From 2024:

Award Recognition: We were honored as the Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year at the 2024 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards, presented by the Arizona Technology Council and Arizona Commerce Authority. This award recognizes our leadership in advancing university-based economic development.

Workforce Housing: In August, we unveiled plans for approximately 415 new housing units and a daycare facility at the UA Tech Park off Rita Road. This development supports the growing needs of our thriving innovation community.

IBM Lease Renewal: In October, IBM extended its lease at the UA Tech Park for another 15 years. This long-term commitment underscores the company’s confidence in our region’s potential for economic growth and technological innovation.

Tenant Expansions: Construction of Applied Energetics' Battle Lab for advanced laser system testing is underway. Steward Observatory expanded operations with a new building to test and prepare mirrors for the Giant Magellan Telescope. Eurofins CellTx announced enhanced microbiology capabilities as part of their global bioscience leadership.

New Tenants: This year, we proudly welcomed Micro-Hybrid Electronics, Diamond Wealth Management, Immersion Labs, Deployed Services and iCRx to our campus.

Arizona Public Media  

Exciting developments are underway at UA Tech Park at The Bridges! Construction of the Paul & Alice Baker Center for Public Media is progressing rapidly, with walls now taking shape, marking a significant milestone. This 61,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will soon become the new home for Arizona Public Media (AzPM) and serving as a hub for innovative storytelling and leading-edge broadcast technology. Stay tuned as this incredible project comes to life!

French-American Chamber of Commerce   

We hosted a delegation from the French-American Chamber of Commerce – Rocky Mountain Chapter to learn about the UA Tech Park and the University of Arizona Center for Innovation. The visit fostered meaningful discussions on economic, cultural and trade development in Southern Arizona. We look forward to continuing the global collaborations to drive international growth!

Tech Parks Arizona celebrates three decades of driving innovation, economic growth and community development. As featured in the Trend Report, the article highlights the park’s evolution into a hub for businesses from startups to tech giants, supporting over 100 companies and 6,000 knowledge workers. Recognized as the Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year, Tech Parks Arizona continues to shape the future “at the speed of business” with exciting plans ahead.

Eternum's Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

VAHS Senior Earns Full-Ride Scholarship to Stanford University

Senior Yuechuan (Canyon) Li has been accepted to Stanford University with a full-ride scholarship. He holds the record for the most AP exams completed and passed at Vail Academy and High School (VAHS). His achievements include competing in the Physics and Chemistry National Olympiads, receiving the Scientific and Engineering Research Excellence Award and is an active member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). As a student at VAHS, located at the UA Tech Park, Canyon exemplifies the exceptional talent fostered here.

Micro-Hybrid Electronics

Micro-Hybrid Electronics celebrates its first anniversary at the UA Tech Park. Founded in Germany in 1992, the company is a global leader in microelectronics and infrared sensors. Seeking to expand into the U.S. market, Micro-Hybrid chose Tucson for its strong expertise in optics, driven by the University of Arizona’s leadership in the field and the region’s concentration of optics companies. The company leveraged the University of Arizona Center for Innovation Soft Landings program and the state-of-the-art facilities at the UA Tech Park to successfully launch and scale its operations, positioning itself for growth in the U.S. market.

Building 9052

Step into the future of business success alongside a community of innovators and thought leaders at the UA Tech Park. Building 9052 is one of the park's multi-tenant buildings where innovative spaces blend productivity with workplace wellness. The building offers 21,072 square feet of shell space which can be easily transformed to fit any business needs. This building also houses our corporate fitness center which hosts a variety of fitness classes throughout the workweek and includes different strength-building and cardio exercise machines. 30 Years of Shaping Moments

In 2012, the Julian Wash Greenway was developed as part of The Loop, a visionary project resulting from a collaborative effort between UA Tech Park, the City of Tucson and Pima County. The Julian Wash Greenway features a three-mile, 65-acre linear park that runs north of the Solar Zone at the UA Tech Park, complete with a multi-use path, exercise stations and interpretive nodes, offering a perfect way to connect innovation with nature. Fast-forward to 2021: The Loop, which includes the Julian Wash Greenway, was named the #1 recreational bike trail in the U.S. by USA Today. With Tucson also being recognized as a gold-level bike-friendly city, it's no wonder cyclists from around the world flock here to explore these exceptional paths.
