On Thursday, several veterans and their spouses were given the opportunity to meet dozens of local companies in the Pima Community College’s 29th Street Coalition Center Job Fair.
A panel discussion was held to examine the different opportunities available to southern Arizona veterans.
“They’re a highly qualified and trained workforce,” said job fair coordinator Molly Gilbert. “We want to show them what opportunities are available here if they want to stay in southern Arizona.”
Veteran unemployment numbers have gone down over the last few years, but the unemployment rate is still above the national average.
“I think it’s really helpful. It’s really beneficial,” said veteran Renso Perez. “It’s not only going to help me, but all the other veterans here looking for work.”
