UA Center for Innovation at Oro Valley Breaks Ground

The UA Center for Innovation, which is a unit of Tech Parks Arizona, recently broke ground on a new bioscience incubator for startup companies. This new facility, which will open June 2020, will offer laboratories, shared equipment and customized business development curriculum. The facility will also fill a gap in the entrepreneurial ecosystem directly related to supporting bioscience discoveries and translating them into marketable technologies.

 

Women in the Workforce Series

On September 20, Carol Stewart, Associate Vice President, Tech Parks Arizona, University of Arizona, inspired audience members as she spoke at the Arizona Technology Council's Women in the Workforce Series. Stewart, a recognized leader and authority in her field, shared ways to excel and elevate one's expertise by sharing her story of what it takes to develop a successful career.

 

Building Experiential Skilled Student Talent (BESST)

Tech Parks Arizona kicked off its BESST Program on Thursday, September 19 with 33 students from the Vail School District. Juniors and seniors participated in engaging career readiness workshops focused on soft skills. Workshops are taught by industry professionals at the UA Tech Park. Students who complete the program will be eligible to interview for grant subsidized internships at the end of the fall semester.

Broker Briefing at the UA Tech Park

The Tech Parks Arizona Business Development Team recently hosted the broker community for a briefing on new facilities and amenities available at the UA Tech Park. Attendees learned about the UA Center for Innovation and its new outposts as well as development plans for the UA Tech Park at The Bridges.

 

People of the Park

Tech Parks Arizona would like to congratulate Kenneth Marcus, Chief Financial Operating Officer, on his 20th year with the organization. Marcus is responsible for the finances and operations of the UA Tech Park and the UA Tech Park at The Bridges, including lease negotiations, compliance, maintenance, building renewal, construction, financing, audit, treasury and food operations.
