The Refinery Meets the Sky as Construction Continues

The Arizona Daily Star developed an article focused on the development of the soon-to-be tech-focused hub, The Refinery located at The UA Tech Park at The Bridges on the south side of Tucson. Steel girders are aligned, reaching the sky and marking impressive progress toward the completion of The Refinery building set to open in the Fall of 2021. The article goes on, sharing details on this collaboration amongst Tech Parks Arizona and The Boyer Company, Swaim Associates Architects and Core Construction. The project has created more opportunities for local employment, ultimately contributing to a rise in the Tucson economy. 

 

An Innovative International Initiative

A new international collaboration has been established to foster growth for innovative companies: The Sherbrooke – Rennes – Arizona Entrepreneurial Triangle. Tech Parks Arizona and the University of Arizona Center for Innovation are proud to be part of this exciting initiative. The initiative held a major virtual launch event on November 2-6, 2020, in partnership with the Government of Québec under the theme Disruptive Technologies Commercialization, which was hosted by the world-renowned Paul Millier. 

 

UACI Sponsored Launch Fueled by R&A CPAs

The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI), Tech Parks Arizona’s startup business incubator focused on entrepreneurial success, has teamed up with R&A CPAs for another sponsored launch program. One tech-based startup company will receive a sponsored year's admission into UACI. Included with entrance into the program and space at UACI, the startup will also be awarded complimentary accounting service hours which brings the total prize package value to $15,000. 

 

Tenant Highlight: Citi Tucson and Vail Academy and High School

Citi Tucson held a flu shot clinic where Citi employees were given a chance to get their flu vaccination. The drive-thru event was held at Vail Academy and High School and was a great success providing many people flu shots. Citi executives pictured from left to right include: Ravneet Mayall, Joseph Howell and Steven Dasch.  

 

Café Zona Reopens

Café Zona is back in action on Mondays -Thursdays from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm and Friday 6:30 am - 2:00 pm. Whether you need a morning cup of joe or a bite to eat, Café Zona is here to serve you. With new COVID-19 precautions in place and plenty of options to choose from, please stop by when onsite and say hi. Ms. Lee would love to see you.

 

Governor's Celebration of Innovation Awards

Congratulations to all the winners of the 2020 Governor's Celebration of Innovation Awards. Dr. Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell was recognized for her transformational leadership at the University of Arizona. We also congratulate Innovator of the Year - Small Company winner Lunewave Inc., which is a startup tech company revolutionizing mobility. This innovative technology was invented at the UArizona College of Engineering, licensed through Tech Launch Arizona. Lunewave was formed, launched and has graduated from the University of Arizona Center for Innovation program.

People of the Park: Eddie McComb

Tech Parks Arizona honors Veterans' Day. Of the many veterans we are appreciative of, our very own project manager, Eddie McComb is one of them. He not only served his country, he gives his very best every day for Tech Parks Arizona. He serves as the Project Manager of Facilities and Construction. His role includes the procurement of contracts related to architectural and engineering design as well as coordinating contractors.

 

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving looks different this year, but the meaning is still the same. Tech Parks Arizona is thankful. Whether it's through conjoined forces of employees, businesses or community members, we're thankful for every person and organization that we have had the pleasure of collaborating with this year. While we aren't together physically we are very much connected and are thankful for the ways we have been able to do so.
