The Vail Hackathon Empowers Young Innovators to Tackle Global Challenges

The UA Tech Park recently hosted The Vail Hackathon, a pre-coding challenge designed to empower K-8 students from the Vail School District to become future inventors and change-makers. Aligned with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, the event encouraged students to use design thinking and computational skills to develop innovative solutions for pressing global issues such as hunger, climate change, and pollution.

Participants had the opportunity to gain practical skills by presenting their projects to a panel of esteemed STEM industry judges. The hackathon underscored the importance of nurturing young talent and equipping them with the necessary tools and opportunities to become future leaders and innovators. The Vail Hackathon served not only as a competition but also as a celebration of young talent and a showcase of the potential future of innovation. The Tucson Metro Chamber Business Summit & Expo, hosted at the University of Arizona's Student Union, featured a strong collaboration with the university. Carol Stewart Joins Elite 2024 SGWIT Mentorship Program

As Tech Park Arizona celebrates 30 years of innovation, Carol Stewart's participation in the 2024 Select Global Women in Tech Mentorship Network program signals increased collaboration opportunities. The SGWIT Mentorship Network is a year-long program that formally launches at the Investment Summit and introduces international women tech entrepreneurs to the U.S. market with the support of SelectUSA’s traditional data and counseling services as well as community, learning, and networking opportunities. The SelectUSA team is proud to bring together resources from across the United States to support international women entrepreneurs in their U.S. investment journey.

Originating as Vail High School in 1997 and evolving into VAHS in 2010, this K-12 program has been twice recognized with the prestigious AZ Education Foundation A+ Award of Excellence.
