Emagine and NANOPEC Selected for 2019 Flinn Foundation Program
Tech Parks Arizona and The Arizona Center for Innovation (AzCI) are pleased to announce that Emagine Solutions Technology and Nanopec were selected by the Flinn Foundation for its 2019 Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program and will receive funding support and program services through a nonprofit partner. The Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program helps advance Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap and the Flinn Foundation’s mission of improving the quality of life in Arizona to benefit future generations.
Emagine Solutions Technology is a digital health company. Its Vistascan software transforms a doctor's mobile device into an ultrasound machine. Unlike traditional bulky cart ultrasound machines, VistaScan fits in the palm of a doctor’s hand, is easy to use to make quick diagnoses, and is 10x cheaper than a regular machine.
NANOPEC manufactures MetaPurex nano-filtration solutions for high-precision purification of pharmaceuticals, avoiding both harm to patients and FDA product recalls. MetaPurex pores are nano-size, highly ordered, free of defects, and able to filter out all bacteria, including mycoplasma, and most
common viruses making pharmaceuticals safer.
In addition to the funding, these companies will also have access to programs and services facilitated by the Flinn Foundation and the Arizona Center for Innovation. For the next twelve months a representative from each company will also have an opportunity to participate as a member of Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap Steering Committee.
These two startup companies have already benefited from the business assistance programs and facilities of Tech Parks Arizona and the business formation services of the Arizona Center for Innovation (AzCI). AzCI promotes technology development and commercialization and works with client companies to provide the expertise and resources for them to pursue these funding opportunities. AzCI serves the University of Arizona's faculty, researchers, and students as well as community entrepreneurs. A heavy focus is to support AzCI clients in developing and executing their funding strategies, which include opportunities like the Flinn Foundation Bioscience Entrepreneurship program.
“We are especially thrilled to see these companies succeed and advance their ventures. Their technologies have the potential to revolutionize their industries. We have been working with Courtney and Mario, the CEOs of these companies, to refine their business model, support their product development and funding strategies. It is great to see the Flinn Foundation’s review committee endorse these companies and provide additional funding helping them to fast-track their success,” said Anita Bell, Director of AzCI.
AzCI is a technology innovation center and business incubator located at the UA Tech Park and a program of Tech Parks Arizona. Tech Parks Arizona creates an environment and set of programs that add value to the efforts of both the companies and the University. It is a place that attracts technology companies –whether they’re startups or mature companies – and brings them into a location that gets them connected to the university. That connection can provide companies access to faculty and relevant research, access to a workforce in the form of work-ready graduates, and access to essential lab and production space. For new companies, the UA Tech Park can provide assistance in the entire process of moving technologies through the early stages of product development, prototyping and first-generation manufacturing, then providing market access assistance as well.
