Celebrating Ken Marcus and His Legacy of Leadership 

After 26 years of extraordinary service, Tech Parks Arizona proudly honors the retirement of Ken Marcus, MBA, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Since joining in 1999, Ken has been a driving force behind the growth of the UA Tech Park, UA Tech Park at The Bridges, and the University of Arizona Center for Innovation. His leadership helped shape our innovative ecosystem, supporting startups and global companies alike.“It has been an honor to serve Tech Parks Arizona and contribute to its incredible mission of advancing technology and economic development,” said Ken Marcus. Carol Stewart Joins International Advisory Board 

Tech Parks Arizona leader Carol Stewart has been appointed to the inaugural University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) Advisory Board. This prestigious role, and volunteer position, recognizes her expertise in fostering university-industry engagement and driving innovation across higher education and economic development. UIIN empowers institutions worldwide to enhance innovation and social impact through evidence-based tools, training, and networks that advance university-industry collaboration and technology transfer.

Arizona Association of Economic Development (AAED)

Tech Parks Arizona attended and proudly sponsored the 2025 AAED Spring Conference: The Magic of Economic Development. The annual summit convened 200 economic development professionals from across the state and was held in Oro Valley. The event spotlighted the 2025 State of Economic Development Report and featured expert panels focused on fiscally responsible growth. The University of Arizona contributed to the conversation by sharing the vital role higher education plays in driving economic development. It was a dynamic opportunity to engage with statewide leaders and explore strategies shaping Arizona’s economic future.

Anita Bell Joins BIOSA Board 

Anita Bell, Director of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI), has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Bio Industry Organization of Southern Arizona (BIOSA). With over 20 years of experience in business incubation, Anita continues to play a pivotal role in advancing bioscience innovation and commercialization in Southern Arizona. Her leadership in the bioscience industry will further strengthen the region's innovation ecosystem. Anita’s appointment to the board is a true testament to her leadership!

Global Innovation Summit 

Tech Parks Arizona and the University of Arizona Center for Innovation representatives attended the Global Institute on Innovation Districts (GIID) Global Summit in Monterrey, Mexico, co-organized with the Monterrey Innovation District. The summit offered a valuable platform to strengthen global partnerships, share best practices, and highlight our Global Advantage Soft Landings Program, which supports international businesses entering the U.S. market. These connections and insights will help drive continued growth and technological advancement.

Celebrating Indigenous Excellence in STEM 

UA Tech Park proudly hosted the 2025 AISES South Region Conference, uniting over 200 attendees from across the U.S. and Canada to celebrate Indigenous voices in STEM. The event featured workshops, networking opportunities, and honored the achievements of Native American professionals and students. A highlight of the gathering was the powerful performance by the San Carlos Apache Crown Dancers, honoring and showcasing rich cultural traditions.

Meet Matthew Tamondong

IT Specialist

Originally from Colorado, Matthew came to Tucson in search of new opportunities. He is proud of his rich Filipino American heritage, which continues to shape his identity and outlook. Now in his final year at the University of Arizona, Matthew is majoring in Applied Computing: Network Operations and is set to graduate in May.

Outside of academics and work, Matthew enjoys playing puzzle games—an interest that sharpens his problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. He also loves building gaming computers, blending creativity with technical skill.
