Eurofins Advances Donor Testing with Roche Diagnostics Equipment at UA Tech Park

Eurofins CellTx, a transplant diagnostics leader based at the UA Tech Park, has partnered with Roche Diagnostics to implement the FDA-approved Donor Elecsys® Serology Solution. The new Roche Elecsys® platform utilizes ElectroChemiLuminescence (ECL) technology, providing improved precision, speed and reliability in donor screening. Serving over 60 countries, Eurofins CellTx continues to deliver rapid 48-hour turnaround testing from its 15,000-square-foot, FDA-registered lab in Tucson. The facility leverages proximity to the University of Arizona’s top-tier research resources and talent pipeline. This partnership further integrates Eurofins CellTx into Southern Arizona’s growing biotech sector, complementing major players like Roche Tissue Diagnostics in Oro Valley. “These partnerships show how globally connected companies are driving innovation and economic impact right here in Southern Arizona,” said Carol Stewart, Vice President, University of Arizona, Tech Parks Arizona. UIIN Connection Powers Innovation

This month, Tech Parks Arizona took to the global stage at the 2025 UIIN Conference—an international gathering focused on reimagining the role of universities in innovation and economic growth. Tech Parks Arizona CEO Carol Stewart, a newly appointed member of the UIIN Advisory Board, and UACI Executive Director Casey Carrillo shared insights on how startup ecosystems of all sizes are transforming communities across the U.S. amplifying the impact of regional innovation from rural towns to major cities. At the 66th Arizona-Mexico Commission Summit, Tech Parks Arizona’s Peter Loya joined regional leaders for a powerful binational plenary focused on economic development and trade. UAPD Satellite Office 

Tech Parks Arizona has partnered with the University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) to open a new satellite office at the UA Tech Park, located at 9070 S. Rita Road—enhancing both police presence and community connection. Supported by UAPD Chief Chris Olson and led by Assistant Chief Robert Sommerfeld, this initiative strengthens the collaboration focused on public safety. Earlier this year, the UA Tech Park hosted tactical training exercises involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including active shooter preparedness drills. These joint efforts reflect a shared commitment to creating a secure and responsive environment for the community.

SARSEF Summer STEM Camp  

SARSEF Summer STEM Camp is in full swing at the UA Tech Park, welcoming a new generation of bright innovators. Throughout the past two weeks, campers have been engineering rockets, boats, paper airplanes and more— immersing themselves in the power of STEM through hands-on discovery. The dynamic program sparks creativity and curiosity, inspiring students to explore just how far science and innovation can take them.

Storage Lab Support Lead at IBM

As the Storage Lab Support Lead, Mohamed plays a key role in IBM’s Labs Engineering team—ensuring development spaces are powered, cooled, and optimized for cutting-edge innovation. With a background that spans private networking, county operations and degrees from Pima, ASU and Carnegie Mellon, he brings both brainpower and heart to his role. He’s passionate about mentoring, advancing tech and leading a stellar team that supports mission-critical work. When he’s not at IBM, you’ll find him volunteering with local nonprofits and giving back to the community he loves.
