Celebrating the Women of the UA Tech Park 

In honor of Women’s History Month, we proudly brought back the Women of the UA Tech Park campaign, celebrating the incredible women who have been driving innovation, technology, and business within our community. Spearheaded by Peter Loya, Director of Community and Government Relations, the campaign highlighted the remarkable women shaping the UA Tech Park and creating lasting impact across various industries. Throughout March, we shared inspiring stories of these trailblazers who have not only excelled in their fields but have also mentored and empowered others to do the same. 

UACI Economic Impact 

A new report has been released showing that the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) has generated an economic output of $664.8 million over three years (2021-2023). The report also highlights that UACI startup clients have contributed $19.1 million in state and local taxes and created 886 jobs. During this period, 41% of startup clients involved University of Arizona alumni, graduate students, or university researchers. UACI, part of Tech Parks Arizona, has supported over 1,500 entrepreneurs and helped more than 300 startups secure $180.6 million in capital investment over their lifetime.

Carol Stewart Honored as a Visionary Leader

Her leadership fuels economic growth, strengthens industry partnerships, and empowers entrepreneurial success. Join us in recognizing Carol and the inspiring women shaping the future of our community. 

New Tucson Police Annex Near Park 

The City of Tucson has officially broken ground on a new police annex along Kolb Road between Valencia and I-10. The facility will enhance operations for the rapidly growing Operations Division East, serving Tucson’s expanding southeast side. Situated next to UA Tech Park, a major employment center in the region, the annex will support law enforcement efforts as new subdivisions continue to emerge. Construction is expected to be completed within a year (March 2026). 

Tech Park Campus:  Campus-Wide Workshop for Women  

The Empower Your Journey: Crafting Resilience Bracelets workshop, held at UA Tech Park in honor of Women's History Month, provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on personal strengths and resilience. Each bracelet featured charms symbolizing qualities such as self-belief, resourcefulness, and positive attitude, serving as a tangible reminder of inner strength. This event highlights the importance of community support for professional and personal growth. 

TENWEST 2025 IdeaFunding Winners 

Last week's 2025 IdeaFunding event was a resounding success, uniting the region's top innovators for Southern Arizona's largest startup pitch competition. In collaboration with Startup Tucson, UACI mentored 25 finalists selected from over 130 applicants. Through tailored coaching sessions, UACI ensured these finalists were fully prepared to present their ventures in the competition's final round. Congratulations to Legion Platforms, this year's winner, and Wrapperoo, the runner-up! UACI is proud to contribute a one-year sponsored admission to support their continued growth and success.

Vail Seniors Showcase – Judges Needed 

The Vail School District’s Senior Exit Project (SEP) is a hands-on learning experience required for all graduating seniors. Students complete an 8–10 page college-level research paper, 24 hours of fieldwork, and a formal presentation to a panel of judges. Judges are needed to evaluate these presentations and support students as they showcase their knowledge and skills. This is a great opportunity to engage with the next generation of professionals—join us in making a difference!

Communications Specialist

Ariana is the newest communications specialist at Tech Parks Arizona! With her marketing, photography and creative storytelling skills, she’s enhancing digital and print campaigns to showcase the Tech Parks’ experience. She brings energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for making a difference in her community. 

Fun fact: Ariana has two brothers, but her cat Luna is her favorite! We’re excited to have her on board as part of our innovative community.
