In March, Justin Dutram, Director of Business Development, traveled to Vaasa, Finland and Berlin and Wetzlar, Germany to promote Tech Parks Arizona and the Global Advantage program. Tech Parks Arizona was invited by the Merinova Technology Center to participate in the annual Energy Week event; Dutram presented on Tech Parks Arizonas Global Advantage program during the Energy Business Forum along with participants from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Estonia and Chile. In Germany, Dutram was hosted by Dr. Helge Neumann, a longtime collaborator of Tech Parks Arizona, at the Berlin Adlershof technology park. Dr. Neumann shared important advances that are happening at Europes largest and most successful technology park which is home to over 1,000 tech companies and several research laboratories and universities.

I-Squared Awards
On April 18, Tech Launch Arizona held its fourth annual awards event. The I-Squared Expo & Awards honors those whose work directly affects the quality of life for Tucson, Arizona and the world through research, collaboration and technology commercialization.

Womens Luncheon
Tech Parks Arizona organized a special luncheon to celebrate women at the Tech Park. The first annual event included a panel discussion from women executives who work onsite. Panelists included: Christina Orosco, IBM; Mary Darling, Darling Geometrics; Holly Griffin, NP Photonics; and was moderated by Kate Hoffman, Earn to Learn. These professionals shared their stories and tips on being successful.

Site Selectors Guild
From March 12 through 15, the Site Selectors Guild, a membership-only organization for successful corporate site selectors, held their annual conference here in Tucson. Tech Parks Arizona and PICOR/Cushman Wakefield were one of the sponsoring partnerships for the Conference. This event provided Tucson economic development leadership with an unparalleled opportunity to promote Tucson to the global site selection community.

Visiting Faculty and Scholars at the Tech Park
The Arizona Center for Innovation recently taught a workshop on business planning for Visiting Faculty and Scholars from De La Salle University in the Philippines. The group is sponsored by the USAID STRIDE program. The professors and students were so impressed by the workshop, a Tech Park tour was arranged so that they could learn more about business incubation and tour the Tech Park facilities including the laboratories and maker space available for entrepreneurs.

Wild Ride
Both the UA Tech Park and the UA Tech Park at The Bridges were featured during the Metropolitan Pima Alliances Wild Ride. This event gave the community an opportunity to see a ground-level view of the land use planning and development process, as well as the economic development of a particular community. Event attendees loaded up on buses and drove the route as established by the Wild Ride Committee. Bus hosts narrated the sites and development activities along the route. Hundreds of people from all over the community attended this informative event. Attendees include elected officials, government staff, business leaders, and community activists.

People Profile
Addison Morgan, Eller MIS undergrad and UA Tech Park Intern, assisted in content development for a new series of entrepreneurial workshops. The workshops are aimed at helping start ups grow their business with topics ranging from marketing and sales to legal advice and managing financial statements. Addison worked with Steve Wood, Mentor in Residence, Arizona Center for Innovation. The content is very instrumental to helping people turn ideas into successful businesses.
