Stackhouse Debuts Real Estate Startup at UA Tech Park

Stackhouse, a local startup revolutionizing the real estate business, aims to change how people own and finance a home. Stackhouse has steadily progressed their business which builds urban residential towers engineered to lift mobile, container homes in and out enabling homeownership and mobility in downtown cores. Stackhouse is founded by a biracial Black woman Janelle Briggs, Ph.D., and her partner Ryan Egan. They sought business development support and joined the UA Center for Innovation (UACI) last year. After teaming up, UACI offered Stackhouse customized business support through a 27-point roadmap as well as access to the people, programming, and places needed to scale their business. Stackhouse has worked with UACI through a 27-point roadmap. Stackhouse has grown exponentially and is ready to take the next step toward a successful market launch. With a solid prototype house developed, the team is moving full speed ahead. When looking for a feasible location to dock the very first Stackhouse, the UA Tech Park was a natural choice since UACI is an incubator network that is part of Tech Parks Arizona. The startup has set up a prototype house before launching a development in Colorado.

 

Meet Dr. Peter Nestler

UACI expands team with highly accomplished Mentor-in-Residence Dr. Peter Nestler. In this role, he will work with UACI staff, Subject Matter Experts, and Mentor-In-Residence to support startups with an added focus on life sciences. With Dr.Nestler’s extensive education, including 25 years of experience in academic life sciences, and his involvement in the community including the Japanese Combinatorial Chemistry Focus Group, American Chemical Society, and American Peptide Society, he is a perfect addition to the team!

KVOI Tipping Point Special Guest Dr. Cantwell

Dr. Elizabeth “Betsy” Cantwell, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation at UArizona, was a guest on The Tipping Point radio program with Zach Yentzer. Dr. Cantwell discussed how innovation is being driven at UA around SpaceX, advanced manufacturing, mining, and autonomous vehicles, optics as well as purpose-built environments that spur innovation. Noontime Knowledge

In this Noontime Knowledge, Jeff Koenig, a Desert Angels board member, presents an informative overview of cap tables from his perspective as an experienced entrepreneur, engineer, and investor. Viewers will learn how to understand, assemble and maintain cap tables. Jeff Koenig’s insights are valuable for strategic planning for businesses of all sizes.

 

FBI Cyber Program Event

Earlier this month UACI hosted the FBI Cyber Program at the UA Tech Park. The FBI shared that even small and mid-sized businesses should consider being a target for cybercrime. The FBI provided a wealth of information including how to assess risk and what action to take if cybercrime attacks occur.

 

Startup Spotlight: Navia Energy

Navia Energy is developing AI-enabled solar inverters to address blackouts. Their technology will minimize the impact of natural disasters, grid attacks, and adverse grid situations on individual businesses and families.
