Micro-Hybrid Expand into the USA  

Micro-Hybrid Electronic GmbH, an international innovator in microelectronics and infrared sensors, announced its expansion to the UA Tech Park establishing a United States application center bringing new investment into the region. As part of the company’s growth strategy, it was imperative to expand into North America and leverage the University of Arizona’s assets through state-of-the-art facilities at the UA Tech Park and the Soft Landings Global Advantage program at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation to propel successful market entry in the United States.

Arizona Public Media Breaks Ground at The Bridges

This month Arizona Public Media (AZPM) held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new, state-of-the-art facility: the Paul and Alice Baker Center for Public Media. In their new 61,500-square-foot center located in the UA Tech Park at The Bridges, AZPM will be able to better serve Southern Arizona residents, support the education and training of University of Arizona students, improve visibility and community access, and provide a sense of place for AZPM in the community.

Elevating Economic Development  

Carol Stewart, Vice President, University of Arizona, Tech Parks Arizona, joined the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) Economic Development Research Partners to discuss the revolutionary uses of artificial intelligence (AI) and extended reality (XR) in the industry. The webinar unpacked the research report Leading and Managing Next-Level EDOs: Leveraging Technology, providing economic development organizations (EDO) with key empowerment strategies to thrive in today’s ever-evolving digital era.

Annual MLK Jr. March

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, hundreds of Tucson residents gathered at MLK Jr. Way at UA Tech Park at The Bridges for the annual MLK march. Participants walked together more than two miles to the Reid Park MLK event, carrying banners and voicing support for civil rights, in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The community-led initiative honored Dr. King's contributions, promoting unity and holding deep significance for people of all ages who are inspired by his legacy. For those who haven't attended yet, we encourage you to mark your calendars and join next year's celebration!

AZ Critical Minerals Symposium

The University of Arizona's School of Mining & Mineral Resources co-hosted the AZ Critical Minerals Symposium, emphasizing Arizona's pivotal role in the clean energy revolution. With a $2.16 billion investment by South32 in the Hermosa Project, there's a focus on training a skilled workforce for automated technologies. Panelists stressed the importance of domestic supply chains for critical minerals in powering innovations and securing national defense, underscoring the role of academia and industry collaboration led by the University of Arizona's mining school. Arizona's abundant mineral resources position it to drive economic growth while addressing climate challenges through sustainable mining practices.

In the first AZ TechCast episode of 2024, Arizona Tech Council dove into the dynamic world of leadership.
