“Economic development” is a catchphrase in Arizona, but the town of Sahuarita plans to construct a tech center to put a foundation behind the idea. The town will build the $4 million Sahuarita Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Center, called SAMTEC, beginning in 2019. The director of Tech Parks Arizona, Bruce Wright, explains the regional impact of adding a tech center in Sahuarita on the overall efforts to encourage economic development. Acensus Dedicates New Office at the Tech Park
The Tech Park's newest tenant, Ascensus, recently celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art space and plans to hire approximately 100 jobs by late 2017. Ascensus is the nation's largest independent retirement and college savings services provider.

Recruitment efforts focused on tech sectors that complement Tucson's industry strengths and the University's research expertise are drawing national and international companies to the region.

Workforce Development
Tech Parks Arizona developed and leads a program called Building Experiential Skilled Student Talent (BESST) which offers interactive career readiness workshops for high school students taught by experienced industry professionals. On August 10, a group of student learned about professionalism and leadership from the business ECHO 360. Students learned valuable insights that they can carry into their future workplace.
