The UA Tech Park was lined with local high school student artwork on Saturday, April 16. This Art in the Park display is part of the Congressional Art Competition which is organized by Congresswoman Martha McSally 2nd Congressional District of Arizona. Each spring the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC.

New Snakebite Treatment Under Development at UA College of Medicine
UA researchers are developing a new treatment to slow the spread of snake venom in the body and help victims buy time until medical help arrives. The team has been working with Tech Launch Arizona on protecting the intellectual property and strategizing pathways to bring the treatment to market so it can get into the hands of medical professionals and people out in the field.

UA Heads to Germany for International Technology Trade Show
A delegation from Tech Parks Arizona will go to one of the world's largest international technology trade shows, Hannover Messe 2016, in Germany at the end of April to recruit new international businesses. Tech Parks Arizona will be part of the United States Pavilion at the fair. America's top ranked universities are taking center state, showcasing global partnerships that line up with Hannover Messe's 2016 focus on Industry 4.0.

Visit from Israeli VIP Dr. Ami Friedman
Last week, Tech Parks Arizona hosted Dr. Ami Friedman of the Israel Innovation Authority. Dr. Friedman met with Global Advantage partners, University of Arizona leadership, local Tucson entrepreneurial ecosystem organizations, the economic development community, and the staff of Tech Parks Arizona and the Arizona Center for Innovation.

On Campus with STEAMWorks
On April 14, Tech Parks Arizona and Tech Launch Arizona connected with hundreds of high school and college students at the University of Arizona's interactive expo, STEAMworks. The day-long event was designed to engage and inspire students to pursue studies and careers in STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).

STEM Camps at the Tech Park
Arizona Youth University is bringing STEM camps for children to the UA Tech Park over the summer through a partnership with the University of Arizona. The camps offered include STEM Career Leadership Academy, Bioengineering Bootcamp and Robotics 101.

Racing the Sun
On April 30th fourteen high schools will compete in the annual solar go-kart race, Racing the Sun. The public is invited to cheer on high schools from all over the state of Arizona. Paige Rowley is a University of Arizona senior majoring in Communications and pursuing a minor in leadership. She is working on a master editorial calendar for Tech Parks Arizona and has assisted with article development and placement. She is from California and is perfecting her people skills over the summer while working at the concierge desk at the Hilton Resort and Spa in Mission Bay, San Diego.
