Tech Parks Arizona creates interactive ground, which generates, attracts and supports technology companies and talent in alignment with the goals of the University of Arizona.

Tech Parks Arizona organized several successful events during Homecoming 2015. The Tech Cats, the Tech Park employee group, organized Homecoming at the UA Tech Park with games, prizes, outdoor grilling and the Cienega High School Marching Band on Thursday, October 22. Tech Parks Arizona presented "Go Global with Tech Parks Arizona" as part of the College and Campus Central at the main University of Arizona campus on October 23.

DILAS Diode Laser, Inc., a leading diode laser company, celebrates a decade of innovation with its ten year anniversary. DILAS's state-of-the-art facility in Tucson, Arizona at the UA Tech Park is geared for high-value production in addition to providing engineering, design and modeling support to its customers.

IdeaFunding

The 19th annual IdeaFunding was held on October 22 with around 250 entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors in attendance. Several Arizona Center for Innovation startup companies participated. Edible Optics took second place in the pitch competition winning $2500. Drone Control Systems participated in the poster competition. John Jackson from Grafted Growers served on the Formation and Validation panel. Additionally, Codelucida, Sharing Tribes and EOITech attended the events to learn and network.

PR Awards

Tech Parks Arizona won several awards from the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). We received an Impact award for the Innovative Minds Challenge, an Impact award for the 20 Years of Innovation Commemorative Book, an Impact award for Racing the Sun, an Impact award for the 20 Year Gala Event, and a Certificate of Excellence for the press release regarding Solar Zone completing Phase One. The Innovative Minds Challenge won Best in Show.

Model Puts Innovation Risk on Developer

As Nebraska lawmakers wrestle with how to help grow Nebraska Innovation Campus, the University of Nebraska is benefiting from a developer-at-risk financial model. Bruce Wright, associate vice president of the Tech Parks Arizona, has assisted the university with the design and development of the Nebraska Innovation Campus. He says that securing such a model after the Great Recession is rare.

Justin Dutram has joined the Tech Parks Arizona team as the Director of Business Development. This job entails leading business recruitment programs for the UA Tech Park at Rita Road and the UA Tech Park at The Bridges.
