2020 Presentation with CREW and Carol

Carol Stewart, Associate Vice President of Tech Parks Arizona and President of University of Arizona Center for Innovation presented at the 2020 kickoff luncheon for CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Tucson. Stewart shared insights into the vision of Tucson's innovation ecosystem. With more than 70 members, CREW Tucson is one of the leading organizations for women in real estate, dedicated to transforming the commercial real estate industry by advancing women globally.

 

University of Arizona Tech-Transfer Arm had $586 Million Impact Over 3 Years

Tech Launch Arizona has had overwhelming success. Since it's initial funding from the University of Arizona, about seven years ago, the program has grown to be an impressive vehicle for growth, a great support to startup companies and producer of valuable research.

 

Tucson Tech: University of Arizona Alum Startup

University of Arizona alumnus Phillip Greenberg co-founded the startup company Copperhead Aeronautics which is commercializing new designs to power an emerging breed of rotorcraft. The startup is housed at the UA Center for Innovation which is located at the UA Tech Park,

 

Martin Luther King Jr. March

The Tucson community marched in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on January 20, 2020. The annual MLK Freedom March started at the UA Tech Park at The Bridges off ML King Jr. Way and Kino Parkway and ended at Reid Park where a community celebration took place. Over 300 people marched together in solidarity honoring Dr. King and his dream.

 

Building Experiential Skilled Student Talent (BESST)

Career minded high schoolers interviewed for spring semester internship experiences with several local organizations. Students who satisfactorily completed a series of eight soft skills workshops organized by Tech Parks Arizona were eligible to apply for the program subsidized by Tucson Urban League. These high schoolers will spend their last high school semester working in local organizations putting the skills they learned to practice and improving their employability.

 

People of the Park: Ken Marcus

Ken Marcus, Chief Financial Operating Officer of Tech Parks Arizona, was most recently appointed to a leadership position in the Governing Board's Finance and Audit Committee at Pima Community College District Governing Board. He will help provide oversight and monitoring of financial, audit and investment related performance, policies and procedures.
