Cutting-Edge Sensor Company Develops Testing and Demonstration Site at The University of Arizona Tech Park

GEOST has selected the UA Tech Park to develop its new testing and deployment operation for optical collection systems. As a pioneer in the space-based payload market, GEOST solves customer’s problems through cutting edge ground and space-based sensor payloads and mission support solutions. Founded in 2004, GEOST is on a fast-track trajectory to becoming the premier provider of small and medium payloads for space protection, missile warning, and space domain awareness solutions. GEOST has extensive technical capabilities creating innovative and novel designs used in space, terrestrial, and airborne environments. The new research and development location at the UA Tech Park represents the ideal environment to test new technology, demonstrate products to potential customers and foster the company’s growth plan. 

 

IBM Tape Storage 

The Future of Tape ’24, a global event was held at the UA Tech Park event center. Over 20 IBM tape clients and business partners assembled in Tucson for a roundtable on virtual and physical tape storage. The excitement around new developments in Mainframe data resiliency, tape longevity, and enhanced cyber-resiliency led to deep discussions. Over 15 topics presented by subject matter experts from IBM’s global tape team included the strong market presence, technology roadmaps through the 580TB tape, and the low carbon footprint of tape. As world data grows at an astounding rate, leading interest from clients was the introduction to the IBM S3 interface for tape, a prepackaged solution enabling nearly any application to use the S3 interface for deep archive off-load of data.  

 

Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Roundtable

Thought leaders will gather at the Entrepreneurship Education, Collaboration and Engagement Network Roundtable hosted by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).Tech Parks Arizona Vice President and International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) North American Division President, Carol Stewart, will guide a panel discussion on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and the Role of Innovation Intermediaries” - with other experts in Toronto, Canada at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy.

 

Tucson’s Biotech Industry

Inside Tucson Business recently reported on the Tucson biotech industry, highlighting the University of Arizona, the bioscience incubator - University of Arizona Center for Innovation at Oro Valley, investors, and bioscience entrepreneurs. Stewart Elected

UEDA VP

Tech Parks Arizona leader Carol Stewart was elected to serve as the Vice President for the University Economic Development Association (UEDA) Board of Directors. UEDA is at the forefront of modern economic development practices and represents over 160 organizations that brings together higher education institutions, private sector businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and community economic development stakeholders. Together, these organizations work towards creating local and regional economic opportunities that have a profound impact on communities nationwide.

We encourage you to learn more and celebrate the extraordinary contributions and accomplishments of Indigenous people and communities in Tucson and throughout the Southwest. Nicola Esposito

Meet Nicola Esposito, Marketing Specialist at Tech Parks Arizona. Nicola just joined the park team, bringing her fresh perspectives and elevating the marketing department. She is a powerhouse of creativity, and design guru, with an entrepreneurial spirit. Nicola is a proud mother of two girls, Isla, 7, and Ivy, 4. Fun fact – Nicola is a second-generation Tech Park employee with both parents working at IBM, her father went on to work for Tech Parks Arizona as the Director of Facilities and Construction.
