Innovative Greywater Purification Tech Startup Company Joins the University of Arizona Center for Innovation

The University of Arizona (UA) Center for Innovation is pleased to welcome its newest startup, Graytec USA, whose internationally patent-pending, circular, closed-loop system collects greywater from showers, bathtubs and bathroom sinks, and then purifies that water to potable quality (on-site) before recirculating that water into those same showers, bathtubs and bathroom sinks for direct reuse.

Graytec USA, founded in 2019, joins the UA Center for Innovation shortly after launching in the United States. With the facilities, services and support at the UA Center for Innovation, Graytec USA aims to begin selling its products and services no later than 2020 to domestic and international markets. Its sister company, Graytec AB, founded in 2016, is a Swedish clean technology firm that invented its internationally patent-pending Blue Circle System. It will enter the Swedish market no later than Q1 of 2020.

According to Luke Jackson, Graytec USA president, “Graytec USA selected the UA Center for Innovation because of UA’s strong STEM reputation, vast capabilities and because of the warm and professional staff.”

The UA Center for Innovation staff is working directly with the company founder to help him demonstrate the technology, explore market segments and make connections with University of Arizona researchers.

“The University of Arizona is recognized world-wide for our research on topics related to water. Our team is excited to help Graytec connect with the brilliant minds behind that research as well as help this company prepare for product launch in the United States market,” said Eric Smith, Executive Director, UA Center for Innovation.

The UA Center for Innovation provides companies with the people, programming and places it takes to scale a business. Clients work side by side with other technology entrepreneurs in a fast-moving, collaborative and creative environment, with the advantage of hands-on support from people who have a track record of success. Companies that have participated in UA Center for Innovation programs have attracted grant funding, investments and employees. They have established new products in the marketplace contributing to the local economy.
