Tech Parks Arizona announced key organizational promotions to strategically position it for continued growth and advancement. Patrick Murphy has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Tech Parks Arizona. In this role, Murphy will oversee the organization's operational aspects, ensuring efficiency and excellence in all initiatives. His extensive background in operations, construction, and facilities management will be crucial in supporting the growth and success of Tech Parks Arizona and its units. Casey Carrillo has been elevated to Executive Director of UACI. In partnership with Anita Bell, Carrillo will continue to refine and advance UACI programs, ensuring the innovative ecosystem thrives. Carrillo's leadership and vision will be key to maintaining UACI's position as Arizona’s leading incubator for science and technology startups and entrepreneurial ventures. Eric Smith will move to the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) role, focusing on the growth of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) through enhanced funding opportunities and strategic partnerships with corporate innovation. Smith brings a wealth of experience fostering innovation and will drive the organization's mission forward through improved resources.

University of Arizona leadership John Arnold, senior vice president, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer, and Elliott Cheu, interim senior vice president for research and innovation, were guided on a tour by Tech Parks Arizona COO Patrick Murphy. The visit highlighted the dynamic environment where 100 major tech giants and startups converge on a sprawling 1,267-acre campus. This economic powerhouse contributes $2B annually to the economy, driven by activity within 2 million square feet.

As part of our series on tenant anniversaries, we are featuring Eurofins CellTx, a leader in human tissue diagnostics. Eurofins CellTx, a unit of international bioscience giant Eurofins Scientific, launched its state-of-the-art laboratory at the UA Tech Park in January 2023. This FDA-registered lab screens human cells, tissues, and cellular- and tissue-based products, focusing on stem cells, bone marrow, cord blood, perinatal tissue, and reproductive donations. In its first year, CellTx has significantly expanded, providing testing for thousands of donors across the US and over 60 countries.
