Tech Parks Arizona creates dynamic research park communities that bring the expertise of the University of Arizona together with technology companies and entrepreneurs from across the region and around the world to create and commercialize leading edge innovations.

UA President Ann Weaver Hart recently toured the UA Tech Park which included the Solar Zone, Arizona Center for Innovation and UA South. A major focus of the President's visit was the level of connectivity between the Park and the University's main campus. She had the opportunity to meet with student interns, graduate students and faculty engaged in research and technology commercialization at the Park. Her visit concluded with a reception of community and business partners including Park tenants, Vail School District, YMCA, Red Cross and Tucson Electric Power.

University Research at the UA Tech Park

Professor Alex Cronin, Dept. of Physics, and his students have installed weather stations at the UA Tech Park's Solar Zone. They are collecting data for solar power forecasting to assist utilities in developing reliable power generation data. This data will help utilities to develop ways to compensate for solar power intermittency, a key to accelerating the adoption of solar power.
