Tech Parks Arizona creates interactive ground, which generates, attracts and supports technology companies and talent in alignment with the goals of the University of Arizona.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) for the UA Tech Park at The Bridges has just been released. Tech Parks Arizona is currently seeking experienced real estate development teams to assist in the design, development, financing and operation of the Technology Precinct in the UA Tech Park at The Bridges. The Technology Precinct encompasses roughly 20 acres of land within the UA Tech Park at The Bridges. All RFP submissions are due January 11, 2018. A pre-proposal conference will be held on November 28, 2017.

Tech Launch Arizona Annual Report 

Tech Launch Arizona (TLA) recently published its annual report. The report highlights TLA's progress against its 2020 vision and metrics, the achievements of Tech Parks Arizona and the big picture of the growth of the culture of commercialization throughout the University of Arizona ecosystem.

Three Community Leaders Surprised

Greater Tucson Leadership announced the 2017 Tucson Man and Woman of the Year as well as the winner of the Founders Award with a surprise visit. Bruce Wright, associate vice president for Tech Parks Arizona, was named Man of the Year, and Lynee Wood Dusenberry, retired senior deputy general counsel at the University of Arizona, was named Woman of the Year. Fred Boice, president of Boice Financial Co., was selected to recieve the 2017 Founders Award.

Funding for Innovation

Small businesses, faculty/researcher, and entrepreneurs, are you seeking funding for your innovation? The Department of Defense has money budgeted to advance businesses like yours. On December 12 and 13 the Arizona Center for Innovation has organized several great resource sessions. Attendees will learn the value and availability of Federal funding, learn best practices to secure these funds, and meet one-on-one with industry professionals.

Larry Hecker Award

Bruce Wright received the Lawerence M. Hecker Future of Possibility Award as part of the annual IdeaFunding event. Wright was honored with the Hecker award for his commitment to building Tucson's economy. As an advocate for technology commercialization, Wright founded the business incubator the Arizona Center for Innovation and fostered a culture of innovation and entreprenuership at the University of Arizona.

Community Update

The surrounding communities around the UA Tech Park at The Bridges are invited to an update meeting. Attendees will learn about the recently released RFP and other happenings at The Bridges. The meeting will be held on December 13 at the Mulcahy YMCA in the community room.

BESST Workshop

Tech Parks Arizona executed another successful Building Experiential Skilled Student Talent (BESST) workshop. The interactive career readiness workshops for high schoolers students taught  listening and interpersonal skills and was presented by the University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences professionals.

Hazardous Waste and Electronic Recycling Event

Tech Parks Arizona partnered with Raytheon, Arizona Tech Council and Westech Recyclers to keep hazardous material out of the landfill. The UA Tech Park held a one day campus-wide recycling event where a total of 2,346 pounds of electronic items were collected.

IMPACT Awards

Tech Parks Arizona received several awards from the Public Relations Society of America Southern Arizona Chapter. An Impact Award was given to both Tech Parks Arizona and Tech Launch Arizona for the BizTucson special section magazine titled "Hotbed of Innovation". Tech Parks also recieved an award for media relations for Arizona Public Media's program Arizona Week which highlighted the Tech Park. Another award was recieved for the Homecoming at the UA Tech Park event.

Days of Caring

Tech Parks Arizona Community Engagement team members volunteered in the United Way Days of Caring at the Vail Academy and High School. Molly Gilbert, Brenda Hough and Kyle Szuter helped to paint the entryway gate to the K-12 Vail Academy and High School located at the UA Tech Park off Rita Road.
